In Nashville USA, for the release of a debut album by Blunderbuss, 1,000 flexi- disc records were attached to helium filled balloons and launched as a form of distribution of one unreleased track.  Novel idea!

Then, add text to complete your design. Select your text style simply highlighting your chosen font. You can also have your text curved or straight by choosing either ‘circle text’ or ‘normal text’. Circle text can be positioned around the entire print area by typing text into just one message box.

Once you have finished your design click through to the next stage. View your print ready version and check it is correct. If you are happy with your choice sign off ‘Yes I am happy with my design’.  Hey presto you are ready to order.

Amazingly, helium is the second most important element in the universe after hydrogen, but the problem is there is only a small amount here on earth and it cannot be made artificially. It is like gas and oil, precious..

Helium is found deep underground where it was created over millions of years and it comes from the decay of rocks and other minerals.   They obtain it as a by-product of natural gas extraction and the largest amounts or reserves are found in the giant oilfields of Texas and the American Southwest.

As soon as helium is put into the air, it is gone up out of the Earths atmosphere lost into space.  Helium is really unique as has very low melting and boiling points so when it is cooled into a liquid form, it remains like that even at very cold temperatures.

When we go into hospital for that MRI scan, which is in effect a giant magnet, helium cools down this magnet enabling it to become a superconductor, creating the strong magnetic field required for producing crisp images. If this is not done then these wonderful machines will crash and hundreds of scan appointments all over the world would have to be cancelled until the machines could be fixed at substantial costs. Nasa and the US department of defence are the second biggest users, as they need it to condense hydrogen and oxygen to make rocket fuel and to clean out rocket engines.  It is also cools super conducting magnets like the large Hadrons Collider near Geneva.

Helium was only discovered at the turn of the 20^th century, and we have found hundreds of uses for it. But the experts are predicting that it will run out by 2050.   So, we must conserve and the only way may be to up the prices to stop waste.

This leads us to talk about our back ups in the balloon trade.  Round foil balloons can be filled with air and put onto a large wand; fun will still be had by all. These balloons whether they are  plain or printed foils still have the lush and visually effective look.

Latex balloons can be filled with air and either printed neck up and pinned or hung or put onto cups and sticks.  These cups and sticks can be used to display the balloons on one of our Plastic Balloon Trees.  They are nifty poles, which slot into each other to make a tower with holes.  The balloon sticks can be put through these holes and hey presto a very attractive item, which can be stripped clean by children as they pass..

Well with the Anniversary of the sinking of the Titantic, as we speak a replica balloon Sculpture is being made in Victoria Square Belfast and is fantastic.  It will be made using 14,000 balloons measures 45ft and when finished today 5^th April will be suspended over the main shopping mall.  Made by a very experienced designer Fiona Fisher and her team of six, check it out on:www.victoriasquare.com or www.buildingtitanic.com

EEERIE GOINGS ON :Jeff Brazier, ex husband of sad departed Jade Goody had an interesting paranormal  helium balloon experience.  One of the left over birthday balloons that were floating on the bedroom ceiling dropped until it was 6’from the ground, right angled  across the room down the side of his bed and the ribbon ended up in his hand.  He said that perhaps it was a message from Jade or his Grandad or Dad.  Scary.

Where the Customer Comes First.

The red white and blue latex balloons are very popular at the moment as you can well imagine, especially now as the Queen has begun her tour of the country before the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.  She was in Leicester yesterday, the home town of Balloons Galore!! Although things can look bleak here in the UK, we all do put on a cheerful face and like to celebrate at every available occasion.

More of our clients seem to be requesting balloons for the openings of new little businesses, which is a good sign.  A client of ours Little Soles recently had some promotional balloons in Hot Pink and Mid Blue. They were for the opening of their childrens shoe shop in Warsash Hampshire.  Beautiful litle shoes for young people age 0 – 16.You can read up about them on www.littlesolesshoes.co.uk and as you can see from the logo, it is very visually effective.  They were thrilled by the balloons and are handing them out to little customers.   Putting smiles on their faces. They would certainly use us again for their printed balloons.  We wish them well with their business.

I feel we need to give another mention to our wonderful balloon decorator Victoria of Artyloon.  She is always getting involved in some interesting events which require flair, expertise, an eye for detail as well sheer determination to get it right.

This Giant Balloon Dog Sculpture was created as a large focal point for the 2011 Music Video Awards – Leicester Square, London.
The giant balloon dog sculptures are approx 9ft high, each of the dogs legs are inflated 5ft balloons! A giant spider sculpture measuring approx 6ft in length was also made and suspended from the ceiling, along with an 8ft high swan sculpture, an 8ft high monkey sculpture & 350 modelling balloon animals! One of the ‘Dog’ sculptures were created and used for the award ceremony in The Empire Cinema, Leicester Square – London. The other sculptures and modelling animals were created and used for the after show party at The One Club, Leicester Square – London.
Absolutely fabulous..

She has recently been commissioned to make a spiral arch for the visit of the Queen to The City of Leicester.  As soon as I have more information and pics I will blog you.

One of Balloons Galore’s more unusual clients The Mug Tug, were thrilled with their printed balloons and would certainly use us again.   They are based on a canal barge permanently moored at Barton Marina, which invites people of all ages to experience the “floating sensation”.   Their clients have a fun time painting a ceramic item of choice.  These items can be for a special person in their life for a gift or a gesture.  This being a therapeutic experience, relieving tension and stress, absorbing thoughts and taking one away from their everyday troubles.  A fantastic idea!  They have birthday party packages,  and decorating the boat with balloons adds colour and excitement, the children love the balloons that are handed out at the end of the sessions.  So, The Mug Tug aim is for fun, therapy and creativity to be had by all.  What a winner.. It was very nice speaking with her and we wish the business well.
